The Victorian Health Act (2001) requires that any person who provides an HIV antibody test (who is not a medical practitioner) must become an accredited counsellor. The hepatitis C antibody test also presents specific pre and post test counselling issues. Morgan Alexander Consulting offers a 5 day accreditation program designed to equip workers with the skills to give advice and counselling to those seeking an HIV or hepatitis C antibody test. Successful completion of the course will lead to accreditation by the Department of Human Services. This course is accredited program and incorporates the following Unit of Competency—Code: VBN216, Title: Provide counselling to clients before and after HIV and hepatitis C testing. Heather Morgan & Alex Nikolovski facilitate the workshops. Guest speakers and consultants are used to present specialist topics.
